Is It Worth Repairing an iPhone 11, 12 or 13 in 2026?

Is It Worth Repairing an iPhone 11, 12 or 13 in 2026?

Yes, for most people. The iPhone 11, 12 and 13 all run iOS 27, Apple’s latest software. A battery or screen repair costs a small fraction of a new iPhone, and a working, repaired iPhone is worth far more than a broken one on the trade-in market. Replacing only makes more sense if the phone has major motherboard damage or you specifically need Apple Intelligence features.

Every week, customers walk into our branches with the same question: “Should I fix this, or just buy a new one?” Usually it’s an iPhone 11, 12 or 13 with a tired battery or a cracked screen. After years of repairing iPhones in Singapore, our answer is almost always the same: fix it. Here’s why, with the numbers to back it up.

Your iPhone 11, 12 or 13 still gets the latest iOS

The biggest worry people have about older iPhones is software support. The good news is that all three models are still fully supported.

iOS 27 was released on 14 September 2026, and Apple kept every iPhone supported by iOS 26 on the compatibility list, which means the iPhone 11, 12 and 13 series all get it. In fact, the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 and second-generation iPhone SE are now the longest-supported iPhones ever, running eight major iOS versions from iOS 13 through iOS 27.

That means your phone keeps receiving new features, bug fixes and, most importantly, security updates.

The one catch is Apple Intelligence. It still requires an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or a newer model, so the iPhone 11 and 12 series can install iOS 27 but won’t get Apple Intelligence features. The same applies to the iPhone 13. If you don’t use Apple’s AI features, you won’t notice the difference in daily use.

Repair cost vs new iPhone cost in Singapore

This is where the decision usually becomes obvious.

Option Typical cost in Singapore
Battery replacement at an independent shop (OEM battery) From $25 onwards
Battery replacement with a genuine Apple battery (IRP) From $118 onwards
Apple out of warranty battery service $105 to $175, depending on model
Screen replacement at an independent shop From $45
Apple out of warranty screen replacement $199 to $575, depending on model
Brand new iPhone 17 From $1,299 (256GB)

Even the most expensive common repair costs a fraction of a new iPhone. A battery replacement plus a new screen on an iPhone 13 comes to well under $250 at an independent shop. That’s less than a fifth of the price of an iPhone 17.

What your old iPhone is actually worth

Many people plan to trade in their old phone to offset a new one. It’s worth checking the numbers first, because older iPhones don’t fetch as much as people expect.

Here’s what one Singapore buyback shop currently pays for good-condition units:

  • iPhone 11 128GB: $150
  • iPhone 12 128GB: $200
  • iPhone 13 128GB: $250

Damage cuts that further. In one Singapore example, an iPhone 13 in excellent condition was quoted 450,but the same model with a cracked screen dropped to just $150. Battery health matters too: one trade-in shop deducts $50 for an iPhone 11, 12 or 13 with battery health below 80%.

What this means for you:

  • If your iPhone 13 has a cracked screen, trading it in might get you around $150. Repairing it gives you a phone that’s worth more and that you can keep using for years.
  • Even if you do plan to sell, repairing the screen or battery first can raise the trade-in value by more than the repair costs.

Model by model: should you repair it?

iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 is the oldest iPhone still supported by iOS 27, and it’s still a capable phone for WhatsApp, banking apps, photos and streaming.

  • Common repairs: battery replacement, screen replacement, charging port and speaker issues.
  • Worth repairing? Yes, for battery and screen repairs. These are the cheapest fixes and bring the phone back to near-new daily performance.
  • Think twice if: the phone needs major motherboard work, or you need 5G, which the iPhone 11 series doesn’t support.

iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max

The iPhone 12 was a big step up: 5G, an OLED display across the whole range, MagSafe and a tougher Ceramic Shield front.

  • Common repairs: battery, OLED screen, back glass and charging port.
  • Worth repairing? Absolutely. It still feels modern, runs iOS 27 smoothly and has years of use left in it.
  • Tip: the 12 mini’s small battery wears noticeably faster, so a battery replacement makes a big difference on that model.

iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max

The iPhone 13 is the strongest repair candidate of the three. Its A15 Bionic chip is still quick, battery life was a big improvement over the iPhone 12, and the 13 Pro models have a 120Hz ProMotion display.

  • Common repairs: battery, screen, back glass and camera.
  • Worth repairing? Yes, in almost every case. A new battery or screen on an iPhone 13 gives you a phone that competes comfortably with much newer models in everyday use.

Which repairs are worth doing?

Repair Worth it on iPhone 11, 12 or 13? Why
Battery replacement Yes, always The single biggest improvement for an older iPhone, at the lowest cost
Screen replacement Yes Restores the phone fully and protects its resale value
Back glass replacement Yes Prevents further cracking and keeps out moisture and dust
Charging port repair Yes Low-cost fix; often just cleaning or a port replacement
Camera repair Yes, in most cases Especially worth it on Pro models
Face ID repair Case by case Depends on which component is damaged
Water damage repair Case by case Depends on how much of the board is affected, and how quickly the phone is brought in
Motherboard repair Case by case Worth assessing, but on an iPhone 11 a major board repair may approach the phone’s value

Signs your iPhone needs a repair, not a replacement

Most “my phone is dying” problems on these models come down to one worn part, usually the battery. Check for:

  • Battery health at or below 80% (Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging)
  • Sudden shutdowns at 20% or 30%
  • The phone feels slow, especially when opening the camera or apps. iOS can reduce performance when a worn battery can’t keep up, and a new battery restores it
  • “Service” shown next to Maximum Capacity in battery settings
  • Cracked glass, lines on the screen or unresponsive touch
  • Charging only when the cable is held at an angle

None of these mean you need a new phone. Each is a single, affordable repair.

Genuine vs OEM parts: what you should know

When you repair an iPhone, you’ll usually be offered two part options:

  • Genuine Apple parts: sourced from Apple, for example through the Independent Repair Provider (IRP) programme. They’re the closest match to the original, including accurate Battery Health readings.
  • OEM parts: quality third-party parts at a lower price. For batteries, an OEM battery may show a “Service” or “Unable to verify battery” message in Settings, even though it works normally.

You can see which parts have been replaced in Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History. At LYK Repair, we explain both options and prices before any work starts, so you can decide based on your budget and how long you plan to keep the phone.

When replacing might make more sense

To be fair, repair isn’t the right answer every time. It’s worth considering a new phone if:

  • the phone has serious water or motherboard damage and the repair quote comes close to what the phone is worth
  • several major parts have failed at the same time, for example the screen, battery and camera together
  • you specifically need Apple Intelligence, which requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer

For the most common problems (battery, screen, back glass, charging port and camera), repair wins clearly on cost.

Repairing is better for your wallet and the planet

Every repaired iPhone is one less phone thrown away and one less new device manufactured. Keeping your iPhone 11, 12 or 13 running for another two or three years saves you over a thousand dollars, and it’s also the more sustainable choice.

How to make your repaired iPhone last longer

  • Turn on Optimised Battery Charging (Settings → Battery → Charging)
  • Avoid leaving your phone in a hot car or charging it under your pillow
  • Use a good case and a tempered glass screen protector
  • Keep iOS updated for the latest security fixes
  • Use certified chargers and cables

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth replacing the battery on an iPhone 11?
Yes. A battery replacement is one of the cheapest repairs and makes the biggest difference to how an older iPhone feels. The iPhone 11 still runs iOS 27, so a new battery can give you another year or two of good use.

Is the iPhone 12 still worth using in 2026?
Yes. The iPhone 12 supports 5G, has an OLED display and runs iOS 27. If the battery or screen is worn, repairing it is far cheaper than buying a new iPhone.

How long will the iPhone 13 be supported?
The iPhone 13 runs iOS 27, released in September 2026. Apple doesn’t announce support end dates in advance, but newer models typically stay supported for several more years after older models like the iPhone 11 are dropped.

How much does it cost to fix an iPhone screen in Singapore?
Apple charges $199 to $575 for out of warranty screen replacement, depending on the model. Independent repair shops are usually much cheaper. At LYK Repair, iPhone 13 Pro Max screen replacement starts from $95.

Is it better to repair or trade in a cracked iPhone?
Usually repair. A cracked screen can cut trade-in value sharply, so repairing the screen often costs less than the value you’d lose. That’s true whether you keep the phone or sell it later.

Will a new battery make my iPhone faster?
Often, yes. When a battery wears out, iOS may slow the phone down to prevent sudden shutdowns. Replacing the battery removes that limit and restores normal performance.

Will I lose my data during a repair?
In most cases, no. Battery, screen and charging port repairs don’t affect your data. We still recommend backing up to iCloud or your computer beforehand.

Can I still get my iPhone repaired by Apple?
Yes. Apple repairs out of warranty iPhones, but it’s usually more expensive. If your iPhone is still under AppleCare+, check with Apple first, as battery service may be free if capacity is below 80%.

The verdict: repair your iPhone 11, 12 or 13

For almost everyone, repairing is the smarter choice. The iPhone 11, 12 and 13 all run iOS 27, repair costs are a fraction of a new iPhone, and a repaired phone keeps both its usefulness and its resale value. A new battery or screen can give your phone years of reliable use.

A large part of what makes the iPad Mini so popular is its tiny frame combined with insane processing power. Apple knew their target demographic well when tweaking the specs for this recent release, and it really shows. Catered towards people working on the go, and creatives who spend a lot of time drawing and sketching for work, this 6th generation iPad Mini checks all the boxes for a powerful and portable tablet suited for work and play.

An all-screen iPAD mini

Apart from the changes to case material, the new design language of the iPad Mini 6 features a larger edge-to-edge screen, along with narrow borders and minimum bezel space. Although we’ve seen bezel-less devices from Apple for the better half of a decade, this is the first time the iPad Mini has gotten such an upgrade. In addition to looking much sleeker, this change is felt even more coupled with the new 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone, P3 wide colour, and ultra-low reflectivity.

The end result is a gorgeous dynamic screen that makes the iPad Mini 6 a practical choice indoors and outdoors. Not to mention the support of Apple Pencil 2, which feels amazing on the low latency screen. All these facets add up to make a difference larger than the sum of each individual part, resulting in the new iPad Mini feeling like the perfect device for anyone wanting a portable and adaptable workhorse tablet.

Improved Camera Capabilities

It wouldn’t be an Apple upgrade if they didn’t improve the camera capabilities on the device. If anything, that’s the least we expect from the tech giant’s annual keynote events. This time, the iPad Mini has received blessings in both the front and back cameras on the device. Boasting a 12MP camera on both the front and back of the 6th-Gen iPad Mini, this is a massive boon compared to the relatively sub-par 7 and 8-megapixel cameras on the respective front and back of the 5th-Gen iPad Mini. The newer Mini also has the ability to record in 4k and capture higher-quality images, courtesy of the new Smart HDR 3 function in the A15 Bionic chip.

Knowing that video calls are also more popular now than even in the time of COVID-19, Apple’s implementation of CentreStage for a more natural video call experience also feels like a natural feature to have as well.

A ton of well-deserved updates to the iPad Mini makes it feel right at home alongside Apple’s latest generation of tablets. If you’re still wondering if you should still get the new iPad, the make or break factor here really is the size and portability of the iPad Mini 6.

Historically, the Mini was always viewed as the cheaper and lower-spec cousin of the flagship iPad. Not this time – the iPad Mini 6 proves a worthy contender for the individual who’s constantly on the move, looking for an all in one device that fits comfortably in the palm of their hand.
